Before you book

Do I really need a patch test?

Yes. And here’s why we won’t budge on it.

If we’re putting tint or a lifting solution anywhere near your eyes, yes. On your first visit, and again if it’s been more than six months since your last test with us.

We get asked this a lot, usually by someone who’s had their brows tinted for years without so much as an itch. Most people never react. The trouble is that allergies don’t always show up the first time. You can be fine with a product for years and then react to it, and your face is the last place you want to find that out.

What happens

Just walk into any of our bars. It’s free, there’s no appointment, and it takes about two minutes. We dab a tiny amount of the product you’re booking onto a small patch of skin and send you on your way.

Then you leave it alone. We need at least 24 hours before we treat you, and we’d advise 24 to 48, because a reaction can take that long to appear. Try to keep the spot dry and don’t scrub at it.

What to look out for

Redness, itching, swelling, or a raised blotchy patch where we dabbed. If you notice any of that, rinse it off with cool water and tell us before your appointment. Please don’t come in and hope for the best. If it’s more than a mild itch, or it spreads, speak to a pharmacist or your GP.

No reaction? Lovely. Keep your booking and we’ll see you then.

Which treatments need one

Eyebrow tint, eyelash tint, shape and tint, the full trio, brow lamination and both of our lash lifts. Threading on its own doesn’t, because nothing touches your skin but cotton.

Why we’re strict about it

Because we’d rather send you away for a day than send you home with a swollen eye. It happens to people, it’s miserable, and it’s completely avoidable. We can’t do a tint, lift or lamination without a test, even if that means rebooking you.

The easy way round it is to pop into a bar for your test a day or two before you book. Two minutes and it’s done.
