Make up as a bride can be a challenge and an extra stress you don’t need. With our tips you can be your own make-up artist on your big day.
Remember with doing your own make up to do a few trial runs so you can nail the perfect look on the day. Leave yourself plenty of time on the day we would recommended an hour and a half to prevent being a bridezilla. You spend so long planning the day from the colour scheme to the location. Keep this in mind when planning your wedding look. You want to look and feel like you on your day so don’t go overboard . Keep your make up similar to your usual make up routine, with a stay proof finish. Do your make up before you get dressed to avoid anything getting on it. The last thing you want is a neckline with a foundation line. See our blog about Red carpet tricks for the best way to avoid this, and other tricks to make you look and feel flawless from day to night.
Here are out key beauty tips, steps by steps to achieve the best make up look on your big day.
Step 1 -Primer
Primer is key for the perfect staying make up. We recommend using a lightweight moisturiser with a primer built in. Allow the primer to be absorbed before applying the make-up. If you have oily skin use a mattifying primer. Avoid oil products the night before, helps the primer to sit better on the skin.
Step 2 – Foundation
When selecting a foundation, it’s important to work with your skin type.Remember to go with what you know this is not the day to test out a new foundation.
If you have oily skin – Avoid foundations boasting a dewy finish.
If you have dry skin – Avoid an overly matte formula. A silky matte finish will hold up all day and photograph beautifully.
To avoid a chalky look in photos, avoid a foundation without an SPF as any camera flashes will reflect off the SPF. Another Benito tip is to use a buffing brush to apply the foundation for flawless even coverage. Remember for a flawless finish use a sponge to blend, blend, blend.
If you plan on spray tanning for your big day, go a few days ahead of time and get your foundation matched a day after.
Step 3 – Powder
To help set the make-up and blur the look of fine line and pores a powder is a must have. A translucent formula powder won’t add any weight and will help you to have flawless skin. Using a powder puff to apply will really help push the powder in the skin.If you know about “Baking” then you must tread lightly as you will be papped all day.
Step 4 – Blusher
A blushing bride. Blusher should always be placed on the high apple of the cheek (the fullest part when you smile), never too close to the nose and never past the eyebrow. The right blusher will depend on your skin type.
If you have dry skin – You definitely want a cream. This will give a more natural dewy finish.
If you have oily skin – Opt for powder. The powder will give a deeper pigment.Remember to tap before applying onto the cheeks.
Step 5 – Contouring
The same rules apply as before if you have oily skin use a powder, if you have dry skin stick to using a cream. Use a two-toned bronzer and highlighter duo. Apply the lighter side to the areas you wish to highlight and the darker side where the sun naturally kisses your face.
Step 6 – Eyebrows
To get the perfect brow prior to your big day try a Benito brow shape and tint, or its worth investing in our Microblading we offer six months prior to your big day. On the day the brows should look naturally full and well-defined. Use a precision pencil to fill in areas with small hair like strokes. Finish with a brow gel to fix them into place for a full brow look.
Step 7 – Eyes
For a natural looking lash, we offer a lash lift which is perfect and long-lasting lashes for the day. If you want lashes to last for days after your wedding for the perfect we offer a range of lash extensions which will make you have the perfect flutter.
Step 8 – Lips
Nude, rose and pink toned lips look great on brides. A long wear lip liner will keep everything in place during the big pucker moment.Try avoiding a brighter lip if you are going heavier on the eye make up.
Step 9-Setting Spray
Finally give a quick spritz of setting spray to help the make-up stay in place for your special day. Remember to spray at arm’s length to not make the make-up go cakey.
